The two books he mentioned in an earlier comment in that thread are Red Holocaust (a German-language book that doesn’t appear to have been translated into English in my cursory look) and Mao: The Unknown Story by Jung Chang (which is basically a hit-piece on Mao).

Jung Chang’s idea of citing multiple sources is asking the CIA, the State Department, the President, some USAID organizations, and a few CIA assets. Then deciding to just make stuff up anyway to make Mao into a comic book supervillain.

Someone who knows claiming to be an, “alpha male,” is cringey as shit but still needs people to know that they believe they are indeed an “alpha male.”

Adam Smith is actually low key goated. Marx builds a lot off of him, and corrects some things but keeps a lot of it when describing capitalism and how it functions and developed. Adam Smith hated landlordism and rent seekers, and he acknowledged that specialized production can lead to alienation of the laborers. His issue was only some major assumptions and blind spots. It was certainly a start, and a lot better one than whatever reactionary nonsense is spewed in the modern day to children from prageru ads or GOP written history books

Exactly. Ricardo was the thinker Marx actually butted heads with. Smith though? Pretty sure him and Marx would have ended up getting along if they lived in the same time. Once you understand just how much Kapital builds on Wealth of Nations, it’s a total game changer. One of the things that broke through my liberal programming quite hard.

My mom’s dad’s genealogical tree is like that, lot of white people in the South going back to the 1600’s who owned a lot of slaves.

he wasn’t that bad though he would use loopholes in the company payment system to get us more money

Large family? My family growing up had 3 cars (not EVs) for 2 adults and 5 teenage kids in a rural area. I could see owning multiple low-end EVs, there was a period where they were subsidized pretty heavily and you could get them cheap (around 2015)
