Growing up, the amount of Lego and Shell sets that were around was astounding. And apparently, ExxonMobil did a few brand deals with them as well.

Trying to make gas stations(fossil fuels)cool isn’t anything new. The number of toys branded with oil companies is staggering.

Did they make something like gas trucks and gas stations? Or was it just the sponsors on the little race car sets? The race cars make sense, but if there were people building Lego gas stations, oil rigs and stuff thats wild

Yes multiple gas stations, car washes, tankers, and as a sponsor for Ferrari race cars. Similar deals with Exxon and Esso.
Since the 90s it’s all their fictional Octan brand instead

Not exactly what you meant, I think. Should fit the general idea you were going for though.

I love that they always shut down vapes because there isnt evidence for them being healthier than smoking. But from my experience people who vape generally only have a nicotine addiction while people who smoke can barely breathe.

It’s a shame that younger people, who are struggling with economy and have generally less money, can only buy older cars that need twice as much fuel as a newer, efficient model (or ev that can be zero emission, depending on source of electricity), but also pollute three times as much.

I don’t know who shell is trying to fool. No one, especially young people will ever think buying petrol is cool so they should do it more. It’s something they hate to do as there is often little choice.

Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:
