Sen. Markwayne Mullin blamed “political correctness” for the uproar over his attempt to fight a witness during a Senate hearing.

      my first thought too.

i say fuck it, if the other guy is down, take it outside.

i think Australian Parliament does that from time to time.

How is this not a form of witness tampering? Are congressional witnesses allowed to be threatened for their participation in a hearing?

Wouldn’t this also meet the requirements for “Obstructing an official proceeding”?

I’ve not really followed this story, but is anybody talking about impeachment and / or criminal charges for this behavior?

Impeachment has a new meaning: The removal of a Democrat from office.

You need Republicans to impeach someone as long as we don’t have 2/3rds control so that means no Republicans will ever be impeached.

It’s the GOP. They alternatively hate the concept of a state when it’s not them in power, and want a religious-military caliphate-style government when it is them in power.

The concept of witness tampering is just taking non-believers out back and shooting them, it’s just another point on the daily docket.

He’s still talking? After committing the most embarrassing spectacle I’ve ever seen in the senate. I guess it’s a good thing he’s a republican and incapable of feeling embarrassment or shame.

I completely lost it when he started talking about how he’d bite.

Like he’s trying to be a macho man and “do things the manly way” then he comes back with “but I’ll bend the rules if it helps me”

Ok even taking that argument at face value which is more than it deserves, is he implying he should not be politically correct in politics?

Political correctness. This guy inherently implies that following the law and not committing crimes is too woke. Bros, is it gay to not commit an assault and battery at least once a day?

    What a clown.

Hell yeah that’s gay! In the best possible way. -meant as a statement that would likely irk this new generation of right wing politicians.

It isn’t super helpful that I think this way, but I get a kick out of idiots having the bravado to say this kind of stuff without having any inkling that they are the problem.

Yeah sure, you got talked down by an 82 year old grandpa. That’s even weaker than having your friends “hold you back.”

Glad we’re in an age where violence is generally discouraged.

“Generally,” except for the honorable statesmen that represent the general public in matters of diplomacy and legislation. Bet it helps military spending though.

This was so dumb. It was entertaining to watch Bernie break it up tho.

What a child. The correct response to a grown adult asking for a fist-fight is to laugh in their face and mock them for their temper tantrum.

Someone whose first name is two first names smashed together should never be allowed a position of authority.

At least his parents were intelligent enough to know that folk with Wayne as a middle name grow up to be serial killers. So they smashed it into his first name.

Why do rednecks have names like Joe Bob or in the case Markwayne? Because they don’t know which one of his mother’s brothers is the father.

Unbelievable that we now have a party of, “why can’t I hit people?”

He knows the guy who caned Sumner was charged with and convicted of assault, right?
