My sweetie Twister liked to knock things off my desk, so I would line up a row of harmless plastic toys (old pillbottles in my case) along one edge of the desk for her to tip off. Eventually, she figured out those were the safe things to tip.

Also ping-pong balls at the top of the stairs. I’d gather the ones at the bottom whenever I returned home.
