I was running a 750ti until a few months ago.

Finally had to bid it adieu this year. Probably should have years ago, to be honest.

I just ordered parts for my first build since 2011. I’ve had my Sandybridge i5 at 4.5ghz most of this time… until the fans died and it overheated, replaced the fans and it was fine, brought it to 5ghz somehow so it could live out its last days in glory, it’s been two years. That’ll do pig, that’ll do.

Same here. Works great and does all I need it to. It would be nice to have a new GPU but I’m driving this one until the wheels fall off.

I had a 1060 3G version and it just couldn’t hack it anymore. Picked up a 20 series this year and it was such an improvement.

Yeah. I’m about 90% sure that if I had gotten the 1060 6G and I hadn’t gotten a really good deal on a 2080, I’d probably still be using the 1060.

For now though, I don’t suspect I’ll be replacing the 2080 anytime soon… So when the 50 series comes out, this meme will be me with my 2080.

I have one of these I ended up never using because I didn’t realize my power supply wouldn’t handle it. By the time I decided to build a whole new PC, I ended up having enough saved up to get an RTX 3080. Video cards were super hard to find at the time so I decided to hold on to the 1080 in case of emergency. Do graphics cards matter much in something like a dedicated Minecraft or 7 Days to Die server? If so, I might build one with it.

The 1080 is a spectacular card, one of the best valued cards Nvidia ever released. I have been using mine basically non stop since launch and it’s still going strong.

Sorry to say, it will do nothing at all for you in a server setup. You could run any game server without a graphics card at all and it would make no difference. Game servers would be better served by a good processor and lots of RAM.

The only thing a graphics card could do for you in a server is if you host a media library (e.g. Plex or Jellyfin) and then need to transcode video for a device that can’t natively play it (e.g. TV can’t natively overlay subtitles, so the server has to burn them into the video that streams to the TV). Another instance could be running image processing on a security camera feed for example.

Won’t do you any good for regular hosting. But you can do AI stuff with it, stable diffusion and silly tavern work wonderfully on the 1080ti

This is how I’ve always felt, running on old second hand unstable rigs. But it’s better than nothing.

Haha, bold to assume new rigs are stable, speaking from a ryzen 7 7800x3d and 7900xtx. Thing can barely fucking boot everytime I power it on.

It’s still a decent card, probably can still do well at 1080p max settings in most games. Very similar to a 3060 in terms of performance, which is the card I have.

I’m playing D4 at 4K on medium settings. No complaints. This is on a 3yo laptop with 1080ti in an external enclosure hooked up via Thunderbolt.

Even the base 1080 is still a very capable card. I recently gave mine to a friend when I upgraded to a 3060. And looking at the market, the Pascal generation will remain the goat for the foreseeable future.

I recently upgraded from a 1080ti to a 7800XT. Sold the 1080ti on ebay, so hopefully it will continue on with a new life.
