Sync pro user here, I was so bummed hearing it was shutting down. Can’t wait for Sync for Lemmy!

I uninstalled old Sync some weeks ago and I’ve been missing it a lot. I am so excited for the new Sync!
I hope the old ui customisations will be available, would be great.
I’m also wondering what will be done about lemmy’s wierdness about subscribing to subs, where you need to search up the sub on your instance etc.
Even sharing the comment discussions is useless if the recipient isn’t already from the instance (probably are but many won’t be obvs), the site won’t let them comment unless they find the discussion mirrors on their own instance. So how will sync for lemmy deal with these eccentricities (that lemmy devs are also obvs going to deal with in the future)??

Yeah this is the wierd one. I still don’t fully grasp how to work around, or with it, either.
One cool thing I’ve discovered is that at least inside apps, those links with !!!exclamation marks to other subreddits work within the app and within your instance. So that’s cool. Not sure if it works with comments, since they’re a different structure.

Same, Firefox on Android even in my case.
Disable enhanced tracking protection temporarily and try again. The signup form uses mailchimps which is blocked by firefox tracking protection and most adblockers.
I have no problem on firefox for windows. Maybe click it a few times to see if that changes anything?
Correction: While there is a syntax error, that’s actually not the problem. The problem was uBlock origin. Disable it and it should work. I had it on desktop and mobile, so I guess that makes sense
Can’t wait. I’m basically off reddit now cause your app doesn’t work anymore. Happily will download when this comes out.

As so many others have said, their app of choice WAS Reddit, and Sync was Reddit for me. There’s some good Lemmy apps out there, but my muscle memory misses Sync!
Care to recommend some of the best lemmy apps, according to your experience? So far my favorites are liftoff and connect. Until sync comes out, that is! 😄

I’ve paid for Sync (I forget how many) years ago and have loved it since. I’m so happy you all are switching over and building a app for Lemmy.

When people see the apps being released for another platform. Ppl will use the platform because of the app.
I used Sync Pro for years. So glad they are coming to lemmy. It was the best reddit app in a group with solid contenders like baconreader and boost.
I never used a third party app but I’ll give this a spin lol.

You don’t have to use the third party apps to know what reddit is doing is fucked up. I never used a third party app, nor did I use a moderation bot. Not to mention people could never have used Reddit before and still use lemmy
That’s really shitty man, lots of people use Reddit primarily on browser but nowhere does that suggest those users don’t know what the fuck is going on…

BTW I’m now using Firefox to access Lemmy as well.
I’m also using Firefox to edit all my reddit history on second device as of now.
I didn’t leave reddit because I couldn’t use third party app or mod tools, I left because I got fed up with being “noise” and taken for granted. Also I dislike monopolistic corporation behavior . They ruined gaming when I used play, they spy on every step I take and want to control everything I bought as they see fit.

Although, I do admit that Reddit’s shitty handling of the community and third-party apps pushed me over the edge.
A lot of people learned about third party apps from the protests, and knowing how shitty a thing Reddit was doing decided to stand in solidarity and quit Reddit with us.
So please, no need to sound so condescending, it’s pretty obvious what’s happened here and they clearly do know. Otherwise they wouldn’t be here.
Sync for Reddit was top notch. The official client felt like a joke app after using Sync. Hopefully the Lemmy version will be the same.
What about kbin?
When will this open for all users? I miss the sync experience I had with reddit. It was daily ritual.
