Bakit kaya puro assholes na lang naiwang mag-mod sa Philippines subreddit? I made a huge mistake trying to engage again with that conmunity. Yung isa, kailangan pang iproject ang sariling insecurities pero magpopost lang naman ng CNY celebration niya sa Chinatown.
Buti na lang hindi na ako mod. 😆
While I’ve never banned anyone as I’m a huge proponent of free speech/contrarian thoughts, I’ve made some moves that can be seen as asshole-ish. I was gung-ho in putting “Minarcos” on the banned keywords for post titles. I even wanted the “xx days bago maging 20php ang bigas” series deleted automatically, only for dub4u to oppose it (which was the right call and despite that the guy is hated big time lol).
At one point, I also kept on removing threads that are redundant. Mga daily thread types that get their own topic like I got scammed, san kukuha ng ganitong ID, my parents suck, separate articles of virtually the same breaking news, mga obvious karma farm like anong brand ng corned beef (which I believe was reposted again this week). Heck, I sometimes trust u/pobautista’s judgment and take out most of what he reports… although mali rin naman karamihan, haha.
The positive side of it is that good discussions don’t get buried in the third page anymore. The downside is technically what they’re doing isn’t against the rules so I shouldn’t delete it. Wala naman sinabi na bawal mag-post ng Inquirer/GMANews/Bandera piece on someone’s death just because a Rappler tweet was already posted an hour ago. I just feel like it’s cluttered to have great posts on the other threads instead of just consolidating it on one for everyone to see and reply to. I hope people see the logic in that and not brand me as some kind of megalomaniacal power-tripper.

Yup, it was much easier to do with third-party apps. You literally can just pop up Relay while lying in bed and just remove them. Sa dami ng natatanggal ko yung threads left are like hours apart from each other, lol.
With Reddit’s app it’s a bitch to do and lalo na sa desktop. I don’t think a lot of people realize that lalo na it’s voluntary work.
Ahh fuck, I totally forgot about that. I still use Joey for reddit now using a workaround. Malaking bagay talaga yung 3rd party apps sa mods.
Kaya pala nag nose dive na yung quality ng posts.
I’ll probably give away my reddit identity, but the bad experience that kicked off my rant above did not even involve a post about politics.
Apparently the post I made was “Not About PH” and removed by the mods then pointed me instead to niche subs and the Feb event thread that nobody goes to. When I tried to appeal my case while pointing the hypocrisy of mod leaving posts which only tangentially relates to the Philippines, sagot lang sakin “K”

First of all, the treatment isn’t illegal. What’s illegal is injectable glutathione, mostly because it’s performed by unlicensed clinics. Not because there is definitive proof that it’s harmful. “May lead to liver damage” daw. So does alcohol and creatine, banned ba mga yun??
DOH is fine with glutathione procedures as long as it’s done by an accredited facility. But of course for PR reasons they’re going to outright oppose its skin whitening use.
Walang pera karamihan para sa fucking St. Lukes BGC or to bribe those in NKTI to have it done (since you need to have a good reason for it beyond skin whitening), so they go to haoshao clinics instead. They figured sa dinami dami ng mga naga-avail ng procedure, there’s only 1 or 2 known casualties in the last decade. Those are good odds similar to liposuction and other risky cosmetic procedures.
Bakit gumagamit si Mariel nung IV if they’re rich? I have no idea. Vit C daw (which goes in hand with the procedure), idk and don’t care. What she and every single wannabe Ivana Alawi/Yassi Benitez do with their skin is none of my business. If madisgrasya sila because of it, then that’s on them. Pera nila yun, buhay nila yan.
Society glorified yung Westernized look, and we’re all guilty of perpetuating that cycle today with kids looking for SOs na kasing puti at kinis ni Jungkook o Sullyoon. The rest of the country is just trying to be noticed and satisfy your (and everyone else’s) needs and expectations.
For the nth time, hindi kailangan ng pulis na may abs at fit. Would it be nice if they all were? Sure. But to say that they suck at their job kasi obese is 1) falling for the security theater that the higher-ups say, and 2) being the same judgmental body shamer that you despise from your aunties and relatives.
Unang una, they’re fat kasi the job isn’t as glamorous as you see in the movies. Depending kung san toka nila they’re either nailed to a desk taking cases or sitting idly in a patrol car. They very rarely (if not never!) get into situations wherein they have to chase criminals. Heck, the chases you often see consist of them going after them in their cars and pinning them down or doing hot pursuit house to house searches.
Yung mga chiefs na nagsasabi sa interview na dapat ganito waist line achuchuchu are lying out of their asses and telling you what you want to hear.

You’re also ignoring the fact that not everyone is built the same. May mga tao na mabilis talaga tumaba, meron naman slob kumain pero payat. Meron din mga obese na wala naman health conditions and are functional and agile, may mga payat na may sakit at mabilis mapagod.

i have watched 3 movies so far and am planning to watch more. they have 7pm screenings, perfect as an after-work pre-uwi transition.
Miss ko na manood ng sine, particularly free and world cinema types. Ang ganda pa ng atmosphere sa UPD around these times because of UP Fair.
Kaso the pandemic kind of made me paranoid about being trapped in an enclosed space with an ample amount of people. COVID really did a number on me permanently. It made my GERD worse to the point that I had to stop one of my obsessions (caffeine) cold turkey.

I don’t think there ever was a situation of people getting into trouble and may police sa vicinity that’s ready to do rooftop chases. Criminals are opportunists and will steal when there’s no cops nearby. Yung mga nadudukutan ng cellphone either sa mga matataong lugar where they could disappear through the crowd or sa mga alley-ways in their motorcycles. Same deal sa mga nahoholdup.
That’s why checkpoints exist instead and it’s located in areas where the hoodlums are suspected to reside. Cops either proactively look for suspects or are tipped off via blotter and they then wait for perps that match the description and it ends either in arrests or shootouts. There’s literally tons of these types of arrests in the news. Kahit yung mga hinahabol on foot naka-motor mga pulis, like in this one.
The downside to these more pragmatic approaches is I guess nagiging sedentary sila. But again, who cares how you look if you’re doing your job properly? I mean these guys look fit but it’s seriously one of the stupidest arrests I’ve ever seen. Sa dami nila and with the guy trapped inside the jeep hindi nila mahuli. Natakbuhan pa sila at pinaputukan.
Better training honestly should take precedence over waistlines and pushup metrics.

I’m on a Dragon Ball groove recently, and tried looking up online when it first aired on GMA7. Two of your YT uploads (this and this) indicate 2000, which is the year I remember. Pero based sa isang uploader (vid) as of Dec 7 1999 may DBZ na sa GMA.
I’m around 90% sure that Dragon Ball (not Z) episode 01 first aired on GMA back in Jan 3 2000 based on memory, pero no hard evidence online backs it up. I want to ask
2one question:Do the VHS sources for your 2 uploads indicate the exact dates of recording?I just read the description for this, mid-2000s pala- Is it likely that I’m misremembering the first air date, and the other uploader is correct after all?

That video got the date wrong because Lupin and Flame of Recca aired in 2000, same as DBZ.

Dragon Ball apparently aired twice in GMA. They originally re-aired the RPN dub (na English with Filipino dubbers) and then later (ito yung familiar ako) a brand new tagalog dub in 99.
Actually that particular fandom wiki article also confused me earlier nung binasa ko, and actually led me to the vid upload with the questionable date 😁 Di ko namention sa original comment na isa rin yun sa reasons of posting ko.
I guess I’ll have to concede with the wiki’s info (for now…)

That wiki is accurate albeit a little confusing and poorly-written lol. I’m not super duper familiar with dubbing lore myself so I usually consult with another guy (who I pass some of my recordings too so he can re-encode it using HD footage) and he confirmed that the dates are indeed correct.

Any linux users here? Is it a good idea to localize FOSS software not only into Tagalog, but also PH regional languages (iloco, cebuano, etc).
- Just take the .po files of the software we want to translate.
- Define a locale for those languages.

maybe mali pagkakaintindi ko pero OP was trying to say na maybe the reason why FOSS is not widely adopted is cause lack of translation I don’t think yun kasi if we look at the average Juan they use MS Office , Photoshop , Premier and naka english naman if anything I think they just don’t know that FOSS alternatives such as LibreOffice , Krita and KdenLive exist and even then with things like Photoshop and Premier I don’t think you could easily coax someone out of their comfort zone just like that we are creatures of habit after all pero if we see more content creators who use FOSS then yeah magkakaroon ng Following yan for sure
I agree. Kahit sa Steam Deck community ng PH ang daming nag iinstall ng Windows OS sa deck nila kasi mas sanay sila sa Windows and mas madali mag install ng quack sa Windows OS.

Maybe. Pero kadalasan nakikita ko is mga impulsive buying tapos nahihirapan intindihin yung process ng installation sa OS. For me kasi hindi pang common knowledge yung tinkering ng system ng Steam Deck compared sa other handheld na naka Windows OS na agad.
In a way, yes. Mababa presyo kasi madami na stocks unlike before. Pero marami rin nagbebenta ng palugi kasi nagpadala sa hype pero hindi naman willing matuto on how to install games, tweak settings to make games playable, dual booting, and so on.
