I spent a lot of time working on it and it’s still kinda rough but im curious what you think!

        Looks cool.

        Ignore if you already know this, but I was having issues when I joined a few weeks ago so passing on what I learned.

        Unlike reddit, Lemmy lets you edit your original post so you can still add the image if you wanted. Either the direct image link from wherever you are hosting or you can upload to whatever Lemmy instance you’re on. I had trouble getting images to upload until I learned there was a 100kb limit on lemm.ee. It will just fail to load without providing useful error message unless your under your servers file size limit.

    I like it and I’m sure your friend will really appreciate it!

    I think the paint on the front maybe could’ve done with being a little bit thinner, something about it covering up the wood grain seems a bit of a shame; inks/stains will get absorbed by the pores but still show the grain through

    Another option to create some contrast on it is using a soldering iron to trace the edges of it, though obviously this can also damage your work if not careful so if you do try some pyrography do some test pieces to get used to it first

      Thanks! I think the carving is ore inaccurate than you think but yeah i considered that wih some of my others
