In every reported case where police mistakenly arrested someone using facial recognition, that person has been Black

Facial recognition software has always had trouble telling Black people apart, yet police departments are still using it.

Predictable. Biased datasets and company execs who can tell AI from their own ass.

The sooner assholes who don’t know the pitfalls and limitations of AI get punished for this stupidity the better off society will be.

But I’m not holding my breath based on the money around it.

This is so predictable. Me and many others predicted this would happen years ago. They didn’t train it on black faces well enough.

It doesn’t help that photography historically had (and still has?) a problem with dark skin.

The lesson that technology isn’t neutral by definition is one that we would do well to heed with all this machine learning going on.

Omg there was an entire episode of “better off ted” about this exact thing and it was hilarious. This feels dystopian.

They’re still black, but they used to be too.
