And if you listen to enough Rogan or other indie brand talk radio, you can find plenty of hype around him on those issues the other parties don’t really touch but enjoy a strong base of support (drug legalization, funding cuts to the Pentagon/CIA/etc, debt relief, anti-monopolization).

It’s about hurting the people you want to be hurt: sluts, illegals (but only from countries you don’t like), black people, liberals, gays, etc. There is so much hatred and fear and animosity built up over years of listening to Fox News and Rush Limbaugh, and he is the person voicing all their pent up emotions. He makes it OK to be the assholes they have not felt comfortable being before.
It’s not necessarily that he is their ideal person (though for some people a giant blowhard asshole is), it’s that he furthers their agenda. He packs the courts, lowers taxes, punishes the correct people, fights communism.

Trump may flirt with anti-vaxx sentiment or climate denial, etc., but he can’t fully support those ideas. They’re very niche and he’d lose the centre if he did.

Kennedy has been a Democrat most of his life. He helped Obama & supported Hillary. He’s definitely done some weird things, but most Democrats would have called him an ally up until his presidential run. Trump has always been a con man.
