I kind of don’t think this, at least not that soon. It’s too perfect propaganda for the Democrats. Unlike someone like Bush, who came from a “respectable” political family, Trump is seen as an outsider. I honestly think they’ll keep pushing the foreign intervention angle and use Trump as an example of how everyone from outside the current establishment is a Russian/Iranian/Chinese asset. Democrats love running against him so instead of offering anything that will beat the next Republican, they’ll just say he or she is “the next Trump.” They’ll likely continue this long after its effective because they’re bad at politics and love to be annoying. I think this will especially be true if Kamala gets elected and completely fucks everything up.

if they do rehab him, it’ll be more like Reagan where it didn’t start until the 2010s, after he’s dead and a big chunk of people who know how bad he is are also dead or old enough that most younger people won’t take them seriously.

I could be wrong bc they love rehabbing right wingers but it just feels off right now.

they’ll call the next guy the “next trump”, but they’ll also say “even trump was better”.

and before you know it, they’ll have rehabilitated trump.

Yeah, this will happen, at most, the second election cycle after Trump. I’d bet money on it. Even people on Hexbear frequently underestimate how much memory holing happens.

I agree I have been saying all along that Trump will be our generations Nixon. The rare bad president. Despite some attempts Nixon has never really be rehabilitated like Reagan or Bush.

They’ll come back when the next big thing makes its appearance. Coolidge, Eisenhower, Nixon, Reagan, and Trump are all proof of how much of a cockroach the GOP is.

They do poorly for a time and obituary’s get prematurely written right before they make a comeback.

Dang how come my conservative party keeps getting infiltrated by socially regressive assholes? We need a conservative movement that tries to move in a new direction. A progressive conservativism!

all the libs upvoting him like soypoint-2 “so freaking epic welcome to ‘the left’!!!”

how the fuck do these people not think “i don’t want a bunch of bigots in my political party”? even if they aren’t outwardly bigoted their politics are literally horrible, just deprive the most vulnerable groups more and give more to rich white straight men. wowy welcome to the party friend.

i’m never voting democrat in my life.

They don’t view it as their party, they view at as their team. They’re cheering, jeering spectator and if someone from the bad team decides to join their fan club their welcomed with applause.

what no actual ideology does to a mf. liberalism is seriously a cancer. imagine the possibilities people could actually achieve as a species if we didn’t have liberals and by extension fascists in our way?

German liberals literally sided with the Nazis because at least the Nazis would kill the communists (and the Jews) for them. How many times does this have to happen before people will learn?

I seem to remember after Biden won a lot of discourse about the Republican party disentegrating. I’m a youngin’ so I’m wondering if this is a something people claim at the end of one of the parties rule or was this unique to 2020?

I know people were saying it after Obama won in 2008, so it’s definitely not new.

That makes sense, Trump was the first president I was an adult under but I have vivid memories as a little kid hearing the fuming anger of my family from Obama winning.

Awesome that American politics is structurally incapable of giving voters who aren’t genocidal settlers a voice. Really cool Democracy you got going here guys!
