I utterly loathe people who are like this.

See the post below since your alt? account said the same thing.
What a strange thing to hate. It makes you angry when people struggle with social anxiety?
Sometimes, yeah.
Or, specifically, I can’t stand the people who constantly post about how they have social anxiety in a public place for attention (which seems like the opposite of what they would want) and have this whole persona of a “smol widdle sad bean 8c I’d wather wet people die den tawk to dem”.
I’ve had to deal with a lot of toxic, manipulative people who use their identity of having “social anxiety” as a way to manipulate and control others. “I am so weak and tired from talking and anxious, we should go back to the hotel right now and if we don’t I’m going to throw a fit!” Doesn’t matter if it’s the funeral for their partner’s dad and said partner hasn’t seen their family in years because they live far away and it’s really important for them to get closure, naw, the anxiety is more important so we gotta leave NOW.
So yeah, I don’t like some socially anxious people. And I hate people who have attitudes like this comic, because for some people, it’s not hyperbole, they are that selfish and self centered.
I don’t understand, do you mean talking with people who want to chill by themselves or running a trolly over people?
The people who make social anxiety their whole identity. See the larger comment if you want more detail.
“So, as I was saying officer, as I am not a trained trolley operator I didn’t knew the lever was a mechanism for it to do thinks, so I watched in horror as it approached the… (tries hard to hide smile)”
So how long have you been in the trolley stopping business?
stop the train and run for your life, don’t let them get to you
Remember, if they bite you, you only have a minute to kill yourself.
I was bitten this morning and I feel fi----nally half way through the week am I right? Any plans this weekend?
But maybe you wont stop it in time for some of them, so then the families of those few in the front that died will forever hate you for not stopping it slightly sooner.
Does that mean that said families will never want to talk with me?
If you are lucky yes, if not they come over every sunday to throw eggs at your house. (Technically still not talking to you so hey…)
That’s not an option. Sorry guys!
This one seems especially unsolvable…
Would you rather murder a stranger, or be forced to interact with them for 5 seconds?
Well murder risks further interaction with cops, the legal system, lawyers… Can I just stare at the stranger for 5 seconds? I could probably manage a smile.
Wait, you’re a stranger! Look ma I did it!
I rather tie my self up and pick a spot than get stuck interacting with a stranger for 5 seconds.
Get in front of the train so you don’t have to make a decision
The only valid option.
I second this…
Unfortunately, that is also a decision.
Run on the track while holding the lever
The train will be stopped, but the person who pulled the lever wouldnt be alive to be thanked
has it become popular to be a complete social inept? i’ve never seen so many kids that can’t handle basic human interaction as i have in the last 5 years. WTF?
I think that people are more willing to talk about it now, because mental illness is less stigmatized than it used to be.
Why are you seeing so many kids for the last 5 years? Do you have a representative sample size?
I feel like getting a feel for how people in society actually act from memes is a dangerous game. I think the point of them is to push passed hyperbole so that people laugh at it, and then share it with friends.
Also, inept isn’t a noun.
If we can verb nouns, we can noun adjectives!

OP screaming at the top of their lungs: “Why are you kids so socially inept?!”
(Kids awkwardly backing away from this crazy person)
The terminally online are 90% of Lemmy’s content machine.
I get curated stuff for free so I’m happy those people exist but yeah don’t take their worldview as the norm.
Nah, most of these nerds are just unhealthy online
The way you interface with strangers on the web is also something that could use a modicum of effort.
Be what you want the web to look like.
user generated toxicity, nerdy shit, and thigh pics are all good parts of the internet.
No, it’s just over sampling on the Internet.
I could do a few small talks before I’m socially exhausted, so maybe if i pull the lever about halfway through?
Maybe just run over their mouth parts
If I pull the lever hard enough, will the trolley reverse? If so - can I jump on it to avoid the conversation?

People say sarcasm doesn’t translate on the internet, but hyperbole is definitely a close second.
I already knew I’m a mental freak, but thanks for affirming it!
My autism isn’t going away. Professional help resulted in the advice of: “Take time off from people when your social batteries are depleted, because otherwise you burn out and fall into a depression (that was the constant circle I was in until I got my diagnosis and started to accept what I can and can’t do).”
There is no solution that doesn’t deplete my social batteries, while neurotypical people load their batteries when being in contact with other people mine do not and never will. I still see friends and have conversations with a lot of people, I need that I am not a hermit but carefully planned and spread out and if possible online and not in person because that makes it less straining.
I would have to pull the lever late to save only the last 10 people, sorry for the others. /s
I would guess that they are most likely well aware of this.
See, this is where you need a super hero persona; all masked super heroes are confirmed socially awkward!
