Trek Wars. Not to be confused with the 1994 cinematic masterpiece that is Tek Wars.
So, uh….
For when you want your Sci-Fi manic depressive.
The sci-fi gods welcome ALL, with a warm heart!
So… no one’s about Battlestar Galactica?
Finally a gif with sound (in my head).
They aren’t very comparable, different genres, completely different stories, different methods of storytelling, and completely different mediums (yes star trek has movies and star wars has shows, star trek is still primarily a series of shows while star wars is primarily a series of movies).

Its comparing apples and oranges. Or in this case a series of sci-fi shows and a series of space fantasy movies.
Its comparing apples and oranges.
And we all know peaches are best
you sweet, summer child
I don’t get it
You didn’t explain anything
it was a coy, and somewhat comical attempt at calling you naive. but now its not funny. hmph.
My sweet summer child
What if they choose Firefly?
What if they choose Firefly?
Shiny, Beltalowda.
So say we all!
So say we all!
So say we ALL!
Are they the lucky ones?
Do we really want to subject our offspring to the torment that is no second season?
i gotta go with butters on this… its better to have loved and lost than never have loved at all.
its better to have loved and lost than never have loved at all.
My kids made a better choice:
Farscape is like Mormonism — gotta watch Trek first to catch the references!
You have to watch a LOT more than that!
Some other references:
2001 A Space Odyssey
Looney Tunes (An entire episode was dedicated to the Coyote and Road Runner). That show had numerous other references too, including an appearance of the Enterprise itself.
Dr Strangelove or How I Stopped Worrying and Learned to Love the Bomb. (Dear John and Hi There for instance)
Dark Crystal
Dracula
Star Wars
There are many many more. The entire show was one big reference to something else.
One of the more esoteric Star Trek references was the aliens urinating. In Star Trek, no one pees. The only time any time of shower/rest room is shown in the entire franchise is in ST:TMP when the Ilia drone appears on the Enterprise. There might be a scene in ST:TOS where Kirk comes out of a door with wet hair and a towel around his shoulders, but that’s it.
About the only franchise/movie that I cannot think of a reference in Farscape is Stargate.
Kirk comes out of a door with wet hair and a towel around his shoulders, but that’s it.
Archer takes a shower on Enterprise. I think it was a Delphic Expanse episode. There was also that whole decon thing.
Jankom Pog mentions putting a sonic toilet out of commission. They don’t show it, but they do give us the flushing sound as he exits.
Voyager has a detailed sonic shower scene with B’Elanna Torres.
Then there is Lower Decks…
In Star Trek, no one pees.
No longer the case, because of DISCO, which also confirmed the dual dick Klingon theory.
LOL… I don’t think I’ve seen that scene…aaaannnd not sure I want to.
Thank you for the update though.
That’s because Stargate made references to Farscape, not the other way around.
You mean when it becamse “Fargate” or “Starscape”?
I really liked Ben Browder and Claudia Black in Stargate, however it was really jarring and took a while to get used to.
Fargate
This + Stargate
Never get off the boat, man, never get off the boat…
The superior version.
That’s awesome.
Perfection.
Post scarcity gay space communism vs. Space cowboys and wizards.
But first they need to agree that B5 is superior to both big franchises.
This is the third edge of the sword.
Amazingly still very relevant. Mainly the graphics were dated when I watched a couple of years ago.
At that point I’ll know if I have to get rid of my children
|| to put it in programmers words: kill the children if they lost their use
Just make sure they’re old enough to participate in the “is Star Wars fantasy or sci-fi” debate first.
The problem is that Star Wars and Star Trek are two different genres. One is sci-fi and the other is fantasy set in space. There nothing wrong with either, but they are unrelated.
Q would like to talk about space wizards. Or that guy that killed an entire race because his wife died. Or when Riker was made a god. Or when Wesley walked out of the show.
Trek is science fiction?
I don’t get why it’s a problem they’re unrelated. Stargate is unrelated to both, and far superior.
Is space politics sci-fi or fantasy? It’s got as much religion and politics going for it as knights and wizards.
So how is Star Trek fantasy?
Suffice to say, it’s Star Wars with the space fantasy stuff.
The force etc etc very much is coded as a religion
