I remember when being in tech was cool (in say 2009). Now it’s just some shitty job to funnel money to these gross creeps.

There was a time when tech was mostly nerds who liked computers. Then it got full of the same types who become lawyers or doctors for the pay rather than the gig.

I do feel shame. It won’t do much good.

Of course, once they decide we’re enemies of state, there is no reason not to revolt.

We just need the public to recognize their faces are on the menu next.

In the meantime if we could get some scholars to clean out the inequity in our constitution, maybe even try some non-FPTP electoral system, it might give the rebels something to fight for that isn’t Same as the old boss.

      It’s a modernization of fascism.

      It’s still fascism.

But it’s also so much worse.

Instead of papers please, it’s drones and facial recognition (palantir/thiel). It’s killbots and robotic cryptids (optimus/mech dogs). It’s ai, algorithms that know you better than you know yourself, disinfo and thought police (Facebook, amazon). It’s tracking and controlling what you can buy and where (crypto [crypto is NOT anonymous]). It’s a return to slavery and/or elimination of human labor in favor of humanoid machines.

It’s absolute control and obedience (all of the above).

    We’re living in Feudalism now.
Trump is the king, the rest of the government is his council (whom he ignores), and the billionaires are the Feudal lords who wield the real power, as long as they stay in the king’s good graces.

What do you mean with now? It’s been like this since Nixon and made far worse by Reagan Bush and Clinton. That’s why the dems we’re freaking out about trump! They *couldn’t care less about racism or abortion, their main concern is the fact that the cheeto says the quiet part loud all the time and may shatter the illusion of the american dream. America has been a kleptocracy for decades now.

I think you will find out in a month or two what they mean by “now.” Give it a year and there will be no question.

Shit has been bad, yes, but if you think this will just be more of the same, then you are in for a rude awakening.

We’re still following the exponential curve of capitalism that leads to wealth disparity and corporate feudalism. Obviously not more of the same. No one is claiming we stopped at our current position, we are still driving down the road. That isn’t changing today or tomorrow. The best we can hope for right now is people wanting socialism. That’s all we can hope for.

Yup, they just stopped pretending. For years they thought they had to keep up a friendly facade for us peasants, but Trump showed them that it’s no longer needed.

The amount of poor people having to juggle two and three jobs just make ends meet is something that should not happen in “the richest country on earth”. Sadly, for a country with so much poverty and guns, they’ve only taken out one CEO.
