Rip RIF you’ll be remembered
I took a last screenshot of Apollo and its final announcement but I haven’t deleted the app.
I did replaced the Home Screen icon with WefWef and it feels very great now , almost like home.

used RIF for 7 years, tried using the official app but RIF was just so much better. when i uninstalled it two weeks out of protest, it really felt like i had to say goodbye to an old friend. i do enjoy lemmy, but…
Yeah, Lemmy apps are rough at the moment, but I’m optimistic for them
I’ve tried only Connect, and it’s been great.
I was really skeptical about Connect at first but I discovered that the things I dislike can all be changed in the settings, now I really like it!
No longer the front page of the internet anymore for sure.

I’m a RiF refugee too. Used it for almost a decade, now that it’s gone I find the official app to be very difficult to use.
The Fediverse has been really cool and I’m glad I took the jump. I was apprehensive at first, but I’ve found Lemmy to be pretty fun so far!
I think this is the only poppinkream I’ve ever seen that doesn’t have citations all over it.
Any advice for someone who just made that same jump?
I stated using Jerboa*, which feels a little similar in spirit. Had to jump trough some hoops though, as your login server needs at least version 0.18 to work.
Jerboa was ok, but things started to irritate me so I found Liftoff, which was a much more polished app. Currently using Connect for Lemmy as it’s the closest to my original Reddit app
I actually also switched to Liftoff. Will try Connect now. Thanks for the recommendation.

Try to participate. Let’s build a community. This “mass exodus” from reddit is different than previous ones. A majority of power users that made Reddit what it was have either quit or are now on the fediverse.

I’m using Connect for Lemmy. Has all I need. I never used an app for reddit though was always on mobile web, which isn’t so good for lemmy
I’m liking connect so far. Feels very RIFy
I just installed it, it really is like RiF. This makes the loss a bit more bearable.
I actually really like using Opera Mobile for Lemmy. Seems to work well for me, atleast.

I’m delaying the inevitable with the patches that revanced dropped but it will never get another update and it will one day become unusable. I will miss it fully when it does.
Just let it go m8. Old times will be cherised, and a bright future awaits us here on lemmy.
I appreciate the sentiment but Lemmy still has a way to go until it can completely replace reddit. I believe it has its use but Lemmy for now is still niche.
Just remember that there’s no algorithm on Lemmy pushing content. You have to search it out, subscribe, and actively engage.
The easiest way is to set your feed to All. That’ll start filling up your screen with everything from the Lemmy instances.
Then just click on what you find interesting snd subscribe.

Just uninstalled from my phone. Used it for years. A shame.
I only remember RIF being the mobile app. Reddit’s app didn’t show up till recently. Miss it already. I can’t seem to uninstall it. Very sad day.
I was surprised at how sad I was at RiF’s passing. I feel like I owe the creator a lot of money for how much I used their app.
I feel the same, it’s nice to know he/she has other projects going. Maybe our paths will cross again someday, and I can make it up to him. :-)

It stopped working for me after midnight and they put a banner explaining it in the bottom right. RIP to many good commutes browsing random info in my various subreddits.
Its still working for me here Jul 1, but I can imagine only having 12 hours left. I’ll be looking at properly deleting (or whatever, fully hiding) everything of my Reddit account, changing its email, and deleting it. If I must interact there, I may use a brief throwaway or two.
Ah, maybe it was just slow to load and I rushed to delete it. Either way, I’m glad I did…

Reddit apparently doesn’t remember the digg migration and I hope they suffer the same fate.
There’s just no mobile reddit without RIF, it’s all I’ve ever known and the official app doesn’t even compare. It’s a sad day indeed.
I paid for RIF and I’d do it again in a second. Hopefully the lemmy ecosystem comes up to its high standard one day!

I setup Reddit Vanced just to follow a few niche topics that are hard to find elsewhere, but even with the patches it’s still a mess.
There’s a reflection instance called lemmit.online that copy posts from subreddits. I’m using it to keep up with a few subreddits while I’m on holiday. When I get home I’ll setup communities on lemmy for them.
