Summary

The Trump administration abruptly dismissed members of the Department of Homeland Security’s Cyber Safety Review Board (CSRB) and other advisory committees, citing resource misuse and alignment with national security priorities.

Critics, including former CSRB members, condemned the move as dangerous amidst ongoing cyber threats, such as Chinese-backed hacks on U.S. infrastructure.

The CSRB had previously earned praise for its investigations into major breaches.

Experts fear this decision disrupts critical cybersecurity efforts, while concerns grow over whether replacements will prioritize merit over political affiliation.

It isn’t short sighted once you learn the reason is to encourage collapse. Project 2025 anyone?

I know why they’re doing this but I’m really hoping it bites them in the ass.

I mean, if there are altruistic hackers attempting some kind of cyber-coup, I’d expect we wouldn’t hear much about it until it happens.

It’s only “horribly shortsighted” if you’re not looking to sell backdoors to US intelligence/Security/infrastructure to foreign powers. No doubt this is a 1st step before trying to reform that “cyber security” thing with Vlad again, only maybe this time it’s done on the DL.

Edit - Autocorrect, why can’t we be friends?
