Fox News: “Millenials are killing the fur industry!”

Disclaimer: I am not a vegan. I like animals, but I’ve only gotten as far as being conscious of animal products. I try to reduce my usage of them, but I’m not free of them by a long shot. Just putting this here in case someone points out the hypocrisy. They’d be right, but for what it’s worth, I’m trying.

Cactus and mushroom leather are becoming visible. I recently wanted to get a new belt and new camera strap. My new belt and strap are not animal based.

I was so used to seeing bad news that i started thinking of why a decrease in pelt production would be a bad thing. Then i saw the community.

Its not that. Its cheaper to make vegan products.

Just look at the price of eggs. And the price of beans vs beef. Eventually veganism will become the norm because the animal industry is just so inefficient.

Isn’t the thing with the egg prices the effect of bird flu and workers getting deported?

The price of egg substitutes (bananas, applesauce flax seed, aquafaba) have been cheaper than eggs since before bird flu

But, yes, diseases make things especially worse in ways that normally just affect animal products

Indeed that was refreshing to read, and much needed. At the moment it feels like a tsunami of bad news and bad takes is flooding online communities, so these kinds of encouraging posts feel like a Public Service. Thanks

Correct me if im wrong, but doesn’t the meat consumption already goes down in most western countries? In China however it is rising, since people are now more and more in a position where they can afford meat.

Progress often seems daunting and impossible until we make it happen

Many institutions that seemed impossible to tear down have been torn down before

It won’t happen overnight, but there is always the possibility for progress when we fight for it

I do think the fact that being dresses in fur makes you look like a total asshole has much to do with this.

If only there was some equally obvious way to identify someone as fascist. Something like them shouting fascist ideology, hanging out with other likeminded assholes and doing a certain awkward arm gesture. Then without a doubt we could interpret them also as a total asshole just like if they would be wearing furs. Right?

Cruealla be like these furs are legaly sourced and those pups where clearly hardend criminals. I know someone who got bit by a dog once. We had to shoot it down as a response. does shooting motion while winking All that dog food they leach from us, and infrastructure like their own public toilets. its a total total fraud by woke pet lovers.

Eh, that’s very cultural. In Easter Europe it’s very normalized to wear fur.

One big reason for mink decline is also mink-related diseases being passed to humans, causing huge cullings…

Its easier than you think, but slow transitions are good. Start with one vegan meal per week. Then one day that’s 100% vegan per week. Then every other day.

Eventually you’ll just do more vegan meals because its cheaper, doesn’t spoil as fast, makes you feel better, etc
