A top White House official has threatened to redraw the Canadian border amid Donald Trump’s ambition to turn the country in America’s “51st state”.
Peter Navarro, one of Donald Trump’s closest advisers, is pushing US negotiators to discuss reworking the border with their Canadian counterparts, The Telegraph can reveal.
“Navarro recommended revising the Canada-US border, which is just crazy and dangerous,” a source close to negotiations told The Telegraph.
So, what’s the distraction for, Medicaid, social security, the slow march into a christofascist dicatorship? (Nah, they like that last one)
This is actually fucking ridiculous
“ridiculous” is a rather generous way to express the absolute lunatic raving idiocy involved in even considering consolidating a sovereign nation (Canada, FFS??) into the fantastical ravings of a Napoleonic miserable little toddler’s colonialist dreams in search of some lasting legacy other than first felonious criminal that made it to occupant of the oval office.
🤦♀️ 🖕 🖕
That’s not how this works, that’s not how any of this works
This is, actually, how it works. See: every other border dispute.
Can’t arbitrarily redraw an international border without negotiation
The United Nations Charter prohibits the annexation of a state’s territory by another state through the use of force. Annexation is considered an act of aggression and a violation of international law
Funny thing about International Law. It only ever seems to apply when when someone has the will and the power to enforce it. Who has the power to enforce it if the US is the guilty party?
Sanctions
The US has a LOT of trading partners

Bigger army diplomacy is a remarkably effective negotiation strategy.
From William Spaniel
The Madman Theory - The Scientific Art of Negotiating with a Possibly Irrational Opponent
We live in an era where multiple major world leaders have the perception of behaving irrationality. How should the opponent of such a leader negotiate in such cases? It turns out, what makes the situation more interesting is how a rational leader should behave if others think he may be irrational. This is known as the “madman theory” of international relations. Today, we take a deep look into it and see that the benefits of being a perceived madman are fleeting.
And yet it regularly happens with little consequence.
Give Canada Point Roberts, WA and the Northwest Angle, MN.
In for all of Cascadia tbh
The Pacific States of America has a nice ring to it
With a sharpie.
I mean he could nuke the border, that’s the other way to deal with hurricanes right?
The hamberders can not give this guy a heart attack fast enough.
Raise your hand if you believe this was all started because Putin told Trump it was a good idea.
Canada got serious about pursuing the money behind the freedom convoy and designated a bunch of those groups as domestic terrorists. By law Canada can go after everyone who funded them which, unsurprisingly, is largely Russia via right wing organizations in the US.
Trump probably got a letter from the “Canadian bureau of land management” (Putin) which pleaded with him to take Canada in
Peter Navarro is not a serious person. He’s a fucking moron and he always has been.
When a slight-of-hand trick is in progress, be sure to watch what the other hand is doing.
Canada is running down the funding sources behind the freedom convoy. A bunch of involved domestic groups have been officially labelled domestic terrorists meaning everyone involved in funding them is on the hook. A whole bunch of that money was laundered through far right wing supporters in the US.
My guess is that Medicaid cuts are the big one. Cutting Medicaid ain’t popular. It would probably be very much undesirable for Trump and more-generally the GOP if that were the major topic of discussion on social media.
What are they gonna use? A sharpie?
From the Peter Navarro story linked:
According to Mr Navarro’s 2001 book, If It’s Raining in Brazil, Buy Starbucks, Vara was a captain in a reserve unit during the Gulf War as well as a doctoral student in economics at Harvard University in the US.
Are the freakonomics guys in the government yet?
I mean, I’m cool with redrawing the Canadian border… as long as we add the West Coast to Canada.
CA here, I’d like to be able to afford healthcare thanks. Our GDP would help Canada tremendously, it’s a fair trade.
Settler Colonialism. It just works.
What in the actual fuck?
What are they (I doubt he’s smart enough to pull all of this off on his own) doing while we’re all aghast at this stupidity?
Russia.
Sorry America, but you’ve gone Anakin Skywalker. You are now the bad guys.
Only just now!?
Well, maybe America was always the bad guy, but had (mostly) good people in control of checks and balances. Like, it was always Anakin, but had Obiwan keeping on eye on things.
But now Obiwan is dead and America is in the tower chopping up kids.
Yeaaaaah, a lot of us hate ot here, it isn’t like 35% of us that are the douchebags.
America is Palpatine.
It just revealed that it was the sith lord all along.
