“After an article reported that Rachel Zegler “trashed” the production of Disney’s Snow White due to her stance on Palestine, thousands online are applauding her vocal stance this week despite the pressures of working with Disney and former Israeli army soldier Gal Gadot.”

      Why?

You realize taking all the Jewish people out of Europe and putting them somewhere like the Middle East was one of the Nazis original plans…

      Right?

If you didn’t know that, you’d probably be constantly confused with why all types of Nazis are supporting Israel in 2025

I’ve heard it said that Walt was an antisemite, so I looked it up to confirm. According to an article in jewishpress.com the evidence that Walt was really an antisemite is weak but the MPA of the time had more things of concern… That same article goes on to equate anti-Israel with antisemitism so I doubt they’d give Walt any benefit of a doubt.

I’m not on Twitter, but I hear getting exposure to actual vile antisemitism happens quite fast.

I cannot wait for us to be past this “any criticism of Israel is antisemitism” and the US funding a genocide phase.

What makes you think we’ll ever get past this? It’s been going on since the founding of the state of Israel.

That’s a fair question. I guess I just hope (and do what I can) for a better future

Saying “free Palestine” does not equal “down with Israel and the Jews”. Wanting freedom from oppression for one group is not an endorsement of violence or oppression against another.

While that may be true, nobody saying “free Palestine” has a positive view of Israel, do they?

I don’t have a positive view of a lot of countries, especially ones that are actively murdering men, women, and children but I am not advocating for the destruction or death to the inhabitants of those countries.

You are making yet another false equivalency. “Please stop murdering people and grant them freedom from oppression” does not equate to “I wish to see you and everyone around you dead”.

down with Israel and the Jews

See, now you lost all credibility. There’s no honest reason whatsoever to add “and the Jews” to that sentence.

        Israel is not “the Jews”.

What? They weren’t actually making that argument, you realize that right? I think you’re literally agreeing with them.

Yes they are, reread the comment. They’re making a boring logical platitude, but they’re equating Israel with “the Jews” in a way that’s irrelevant to their point.

Again, there was no honest reason to add “and the Jews” to their comment other than to equate Israel with Jewish people in general. That’s a tactic used by pro-genocide people to accuse anyone that protests Israel of being anti-Semitic.

The twit was ‘and always remember, free palestine.’

Do you consider that to be hating on Israel?

Free Palestine & fuck the Zionists and all, but her trying to shit on the original story and endorsing a twisted & misguided feminist story is what irks me about her. Do a movie about women empowerment, no problem with that. Why ruin a classic to that end though?

Blame Disney for making her say shit like that, it was very clearly a form of marketing for the money and it wasn’t the first nor last will be the last time Disney has its live action cast members talk shit about the OG version.

Moreover, the comment wasn’t even really “shitting” on it either. People spreading that clearly only heard about it online. IIRC, she just called it outdated and that Prince Charming is weird, even if she wasn’t coached to say that somehow, she’s entitled to have opinions.

        It’s a live-action Disney remake. They’re all shit.

But, it was an animated recreation from an older story to start. Recreations happen all the time. Lazy? I suppose, but why would it be lazy and not the initial copy?

I guiltily admit i do watch them as background noise years after they’ve been released to make sure they suck. They typically do, though I’ve heard The Jungle Book live remake wasn’t bad.

Believe it or not, Lady and the Tramp was a surprisingly good live-action-ish remake. Maybe my expectations were low as it wasn’t released in theaters, but I enjoyed it more than the bigger budgeted ones.

IMO The Little Mermaid live action remake was pretty good. They made the love interest make more sense, not just the guy going “pretty girl is pretty” and also I liked that

          spoiler

it was her who killed the sea witch at the end and not the guy.

IMO that made for a more well rounded ending.

As for the others, I’ve se Beauty and The Beast and wasn’t impressed but have watched none of the others because all of them live in an uncanny valley I don’t want to visit.
