Patrick Crusius had acknowledged he targeted Hispanics on Aug. 3, 2019, when he opened fire in the store crowded with weekend shoppers from the U.S. and Mexico in the border city of El Paso.

That’s it. Shoot a bunch of Hispanics, get sent to a resort prison.

Shoot a rich white healthcare executive, get sent to death row.

    Tips red trucker cap…m’urica.

It is a huge disparity but let’s be real, no prison in Texas is a resort prison. They’re already on the list of borderline humane in US standards.

There’s FPC Bryan outside College Station, which showed up on a list of “best prisons to be sent to”…but that’s a woman’s only prison.

In 2023 a federal judge convicted him to 90 consecutive life sentences, after he pleaded guilty of hate crimes and firearms violation.

    Holy shit.

This might be controversial, but I’m glad he didn’t get the death penalty. Not because I don’t think he deserves it, but because I don’t think we should have the death penalty at all.

I think this just shows the stark contrast between the upper class and the lower class. You aren’t treated the same if you murder someone in a position of power.

I’m in complete agreement with you there. If Luigi Mangione gets the death penalty, we should absolutely take to the streets and riot.

This guy gets no death penalty, for opening fire on a crowd of innocent shoppers…but shoot a CEO, and its death penalty for you.

Yeah. Plea deal vs trial. The only reason this guy didn’t get the death penalty is because they held it over his head to force him into the plea deal. If it went to trial they would seek the death penalty for sure.

I think the larger issue is that Luigi will not be offered a deal. He will be made an example.

How could they convict? Luigi doesn’t even look like the guy from the video. He looks like a saint to me. Not guilty!

I have many doubts about his guilt, but the rule of law is more important than any one crime. It is better for a guilty man to get a fair trial and go free than for an innocent man to be railroaded and unjustly punished. To me, it is obvious he has not received fair or just treatment under the law. It doesn’t matter to me if he is guilty or not, he should go free because the prosecution has poisoned the well.

last we heard he was indicted on grand jury charges, they want to drag this as long as possible, so people will forget he exists, so they can fully charge him.

Ok. Admissible. White people are officially a minority. Try, you need to be rich to matter now. I do agree with the sentiment.

If he’s not getting put in protective or solitary confinement, he’s eligible for A death penalty, just not THE death penalty
