      Couch fucking idiots.

Well, at least one of them, probably more if we knew all the facts…

Great charging rate, outstanding number of cycles, good temperature range of operations and twice the range of my hybrid. What’s the catch? Is it going to cost $50k?

If the catch is that it is $50k, sign me the fuck up. Lucid Air’s are pretty industry leading in regards to range at ~500 miles and those are $70k. 1500km is over 900 miles.

Some additional keywords on the tech behind this extended range capability:

… self-generated anode battery technology (which no longer uses traditional graphite anode material but allows elements to deposit on the current collector in metallic form, increasing volumetric energy density by 60% and gravimetric energy density by 50%)

Additionally, CATL’s self-generated anode technology can be adapted to multiple material systems. For example, when paired with sodium-ion systems, the energy density can reach 350Wh/L; with phosphate systems, it can reach 680-780Wh/L; and with ternary systems, it can exceed 1000Wh/L.

    Source

The source cites CATL, but this self-generating anode tech has apparently been studied for a while by more than CATL.

It’s literally just the company saying they have (will have?) this product soon™️, and someone reporting that. What exactly are you looking for beyond that?

That seems … Far fetched. That recharge figure is comparable than a Formula E pit stop. That seems like a stretch.

For Americans, that 932 miles range and 323 miles ultra-fast charging, not that you’ll get to enjoy that on your freeways in the next four years.

Yeah… more like a decade at least, if we’re being honest. Even if we do a U-turn in 4 years (which, frankly, I doubt, because I’m not convinced we’ll even have elections, much less meaningful ones, very much less free and fair ones).

Also, I see you, fellow Bostonian 😉
