I’m on Debian 13(Trixie), and use Bottles to play Warframe on my system!

Since this is Lemmy, and this is an unofficial Warframe community here, I’m curious how many of you play Warframe on Linux?

Edit: Very nice to hear I’m not alone in playing Warframe on Linux! ❤

Been running warframe under linux for a couple of years myself by now. Pretty much just install it on steam, set it to proton 9 and it will run perfectly fine. Soulframe also runs under lutris with proton-ge.

You can play soulframe if you’re part of their beta-testers. I added it as a non-steam game and I could run it fine with proton

There isn’t a lot to play yet though

Been playing Warframe on Linux since 2020 when I made the switch, used to be you had to use a specific launch flag to make the game have audio and either plug in a controller or fake having one or the game would crash after around 5min. Thankfully such tweaks haven’t been necessary for years now and nowadays Warframe (and most games) just work. Things have gotten so good I rarely even check protonDB for compatibility before buying a game now!

Playing on Kubuntu (currently on 24.10) for the last 6+ months now. It’s been fantastic!

@midtsveen yup! Works flawlessly, but sometimes the alt+tab can mess up sh$t, at least under Wayland.
When that happens you just need to open the launcher while the game is still running, that let’s you return to the game window somehow…

Yes! And it works pretty well, performance-wise, outside crowded hubs!

I used to play on Manjaro through Steam, no extra thinking steps needed, just download, install and play. Easy as it can, maybe too easy to be real. Stable FPS almost all time except on open worlds, where there is a little drop

I do, its very easy. I used to need Steam Tinker Launch and a bunch of options but now it just works. I run it with Proton 9 through Steam.
