It’s a combination of very stupid/uninformed voters, and hardcore fascist voters who don’t care how bad their own lives get, as long as immigrants and trans people get gassed. A lot of people think the latter group is a minority, but I actually think it’s the other way around. I think most people who voted for Trump are just fascists and the uninformed are maybe 20% max.

Like somehow enough Canadians would write Trump on their ballots that it would “win” the election for him, which demonstrates such a fundamental lack of understanding about our electoral system that I don’t even know where to begin.
Yes, indeed. If you check out Poilievre’s platform, he almost entirely mimics Trump’s, right down to promoting Canada’s own version of DOGE. That’s why there was such a huge turnout at the voting booths. The writing was on the wall with that guy and becoming American was not what the majority of us wanted.

This is what you need to keep foremost in your mind. There is no conceivable reality in which the US conquers (yes conquers, they can call it annexation all they want but at the end of the day Trump wants a conquest to his name) Canada and gives any semblance of voting or personal rights to Canadians. Hell, even if Canada was somehow persuaded into voluntarily joining the US, this regime would never, ever honour any kind of arrangement that gave Canadians a fair deal. They are fascist bullies, as close to actual evil as we’ve seen in North America in a very long time, and they have no interest in any sort of fair bargain.
They’d annex the land, and then deport all the Canadian foreigners that illegally immigrated in the US.
