Today, Congressman Shri Thanedar (MI-13) introduced articles of impeachment against Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, citing a sweeping abuse of power, flagrant violations of the Constitution, and acts of tyranny that undermine American democracy and threaten the rule of law.
“Donald Trump has repeatedly demonstrated that he is unfit to serve as President and represents a clear and present danger to our nation’s constitution and our democracy,” said Rep. Thanedar. “His unlawful actions have subverted the justice system, violated the separation of powers, and placed personal power and self-interest above public service. We cannot wait for more damage to be done. Congress must act.”
The resolution includes seven articles of impeachment outlining a range of constitutional violations.

It’ll be a new tradition, every year we impeach the man and every year it produces no real change.
It’ll show someone tried, I guess. Unfortunately, the time fascism could have been defeated from within the system is long passed.

FINALLY.
Why? Did he commit high crimes and misdemeanors or something?
That’s like asking if Jack the Ripper hurt anybody
Third time’s the charm?
There will not be an impeachment unless the gop cowards do something but they won’t.
Good for him. Unfortunately the Republicans are all vile, complicit lock-step party brownshirts, so nothing whatsoever will come of this.
Cute
Anyway
If you want to just lay there and keep watching our country burn while doing nothing that’s your choice. I’ll keep doing what little I can to help those who are working on fighting this tyrant.
You haven’t gotten it yet, huh?
Congress is powerless. The Judicial is powerless.
This will do nothing but knock yourselves out, I’ve seen this show before. GOP-held Congress is gonna get anywhere with Impeachment, sure.
I mean it’s about all the Democrats in office can do but I’m sure you can find a better use of your time. Plant a tree, there’s one. Start a self-defense network for immigrants and queer folk in your area. I can go on…
Why not both? The amount of time and effort required for me to support a likely unsuccessful impeachment attempt is negligible, but it does make me feel just a smidge better.
imo, we have to fight on all fronts. While some may argue that it’s a waste of time, I believe the work for short term reform is still important. Even if the long-term goal is something more. While I hold a more revolutionary ideology, I’ve comrades who are doing what they can in the existing system.
As much as I hate it, I agree.
We all saw how far those two impeachments he got before went. He’s already a felon with immunity threatening to arrest the Supreme Court, the game is locked in
Better to focus on building networks in your communities that can do good here and now, you know?
Truth
We tried this. Twice
If someone has their boot on your neck and you’ve failed to throw them off twice, would you not try a third time?
I’d try something else because it failed two times before.
It’s more like the two previous attempts to remove the boot have involved throwing dandelions at it. Somehow, I don’t think a third tossing of dandelions is going to make a difference. This isn’t saying to stop trying to get the boot off your neck, but there comes a point where you must acknowledge that your methods aren’t going to work and it is, in fact, wasted effort to keep trying without changing anything.
Therefore the legislature should roll over, abdicate their responsibility, and succumb to tyranny!
They already have!!
Twice
Deleting this because I posted it in the wrong place.
Good. Now everyone needs to call, email, or visit with their reps to get this passed - assuming they can force a vote. It will only take 4 republicans crossing the aisle in the house to impeach him yet again. Then we need to hound our Senators to get a conviction. That will be the hardest part because it’ll take about 20 republicans to join all the democrats and independents to convict him.
And then someone still has to drag him out
Who’s gonna do that? The Justice Department full of Trump cronies?
At that point Vance would president, I think he’d be eager to move in to his new digs.
Does the oval office even have a couch, though?
Yes. So many TV shows and movies show the oval office…
Vance won’t have the cult on his side. He has no way to force the fealty of the rest of his party.
In any scenario where Trump is removed from office via impeachment, he’s already lost his stranglehold on the party.
Or their party has lost its stranglehold on the country.
Exactly, nobody wants that
At least with Vance we likely get a malicious and ineffective president, where with Trump we have a malicious and stupid president.
Trump clearly picked Vance because he does what he’s told. I’d be much happier with that outcome than the rapid destruction of our country.
Gonna need to fumigate first
And prepare the Presidental couches with plastic covers.
I don’t hear you offering a solution. Am I correct in my belief that your are in favor of just rolling over and letting him do whatever he wants and not to bother resisting in any way?
What, am I supposed to announce my entire political viewpoint for you? I called it like I seen it.
I’m doing shit in my own life, trust me on that.
I feel like we’ve been here before
Surely this time we will all get the satisfaction we pray for. Surely.
We’ll be here again and again if he isn’t removed.
He’s not getting removed.
I don’t get why people aren’t understanding what’s happening. They are setting a precedent that they never want used back against them and are setting it up so they don’t have to worry about it, and there is no real opposition party anyway. This is it, the turning point where control by the people and representation has been effectively taken away.
I don’t get why people like you jump to conclusions about shit all the time. It is POSSIBLE he can be removed in several ways… impeachment isn’t likely sure, but he isn’t a healthy person, he’s old, he has mental health decline, and people hate him and keep trying to kill him… anything can happen.
I’m not saying don’t try, I just think it’s naive to expect it to do anything and screams a population who hasn’t grown up seeing their nation taken over by authoritarians and fascism, something that happened many times in other places that Americans don’t think could possibly impact them here because “those people were brown and dumb.”
That average people still expect their “representatives” to fix things is the naive part.
Nobody is coming. If we want democracy we have to make it happen, as individuals, as people on the ground.
Congressman Shri Thanedar (MI-13)
MI-13? That’s almost MS-13! Bake him away toys!
What does this mean? Michigan district 13?
Yes
It’s a waste for a D to bring Impeachment charges. Unless Rs do it, it will never pass and will always seem politically motivated.
There is no other motivation for any politician save for political motivation.
Gotta start removing more Republicans from power, too. Use that 14th amendment to clear most of them out.
Force it into the record anyway
Of course it’s politically motivated, trump is a shit political leader.
He’s done exactly 2 things I agree with, kill the useless penny, and say he’ll pass a “congress can’t trade stocks” law.
Kill the nickle and dime while we’re at it. (CGP Gray fan)
So you think they should just comply in advance?
Isn’t everything to do with a government politically motivated?
I think every single D should do it, all of them should have ALREADY condemned his high crimes. They’re cowards
What does it waste? Every Republican, moderate, and undecided gets to see who actually wants impeachment. No stepping around it we’ll know who could have ended this and voted to keep him. what can a Democrat do that isn’t going to look politically motivated? Defeatist arguments are exactly what trump needs to become emperor
Johnson can just table it without a vote. You’re not gonna get anyone on record with it.
Even if a republican would do this, the Magats would claim it’s a secret democrat.
Regardless, its nice to see someone actually trying to do something.
Impeachments of Donald Trump are security theater at this point.
You’re right, let’s give up and do nothing.
That’s a cool false dichotomy you’ve got there.
Look unless you are holding out on a bag of unused monkey paws this is all we have to work with.
Did you sleep through history class?
My house is on fire, but I’m standing on the sidewalk spitting at it. At least I’m “actually trying to do something”, right?
Weird how they only did it today when a primary challenger announced they were running.
They could have done this anytime before today but waited until their seat was at stake.
Just pure coincidence that they drafted this up on the same day. Almost like they know people aren’t interested in a politician who doesn’t represent them.
Wanna take bets that the challenger loses and the impeachment goes nowhere, so nothing happens to this seat?
Its never a waste to do the right thing.
Hooray!
