Ngl, I would be happy if the cardinal that lives in our yard became pope. He’s a cool little dude, and much closer to the divine than any human.
I had a cardinal that would repeatedly bash itself unconscious at whatever window my dad was in. He liked to joke it was his mother. It went on for years. It was fucking wild. It was the same damn bird.
They are not the smartest birds, that’s for sure. Pretty, and entertaining, but not too bright

Avian discrimination
My favorite is the red-crested cardinal(Paroaria coronata) but I know their chances of becoming Pope are slim because it’s very unlikely they’d elect two South-American cardinals in a row.
Not a true cardinal either.

Is the a rule that a pope can’t be bird? I know he has to be a baptized catholic male and accept of their own free will (added after a tiny incident), but did they ever specify human?
The problem is that they have the say they accept the role as pope. So maybe a talking parrot?

I too was confused about the indicated countries.
Bothered me as well so I went and looked it up, because sometimes animals I associate with North America are present in Eurasia too.
