Fold down to take on public transit, or easily carry upstairs to homes/offices/work etc

Folding commuter bikes that are easy to bring in trains or transit. The pedals are a bit far and they can be a bit easy to fall on because the small front wheel but are convenient.

Makes sense. Seems like the gear ratio would be weird but I’m not a mechanical engineer so idk haha.

Funny enough it’s not the gear it’s absolutely the small wheel size that is the issue. More surface tension so you lose momentum faster and have to keep pedalling plus a small turn to avoid things means a larger degree turn meaning easier wipeouts. The pedaling if any bike is pretty standard and you can just match the size of the gears as need proportional to the wheel.
It’s just those tiny wheels suck.
