The non-swearing wasn’t because they were more « advanced » in the series, it was censorship from TV diffusers at the time (in the 60’s). Swearing simply wasn’t allowed on TV.

Some Federation ships are in The Bad Place (equinox…cough).

You’ve been assigned to a ship in The Good Place.

“Illogical” is just the translator making a mild version of the actual phrase “How the fuck did you manage to stay out of special fucking ed with a dumbass statement like that??”

Janeway: would have had the filter off initially because she trusted her crew to exhibit perfect decorum even without it, immediately switched it on once the Maqui joined, then flipped it off again sometime later (specific ep recommendations anyone?) because she didn’t gaf anymore.

Sisko: considered turning it off but opted to leave it on to reduce bar brawls at Quark’s. Turned it off on the Defiant.

Picard: on, but removed “damn” from the censorship list, as a little treat.

VOY: B’elanna never stopped cursing and only got worse after Seven joined and intensified further during pregnancy.

TNG: “Merde” is the preffered nomenclature.

What was the first Star Trek show to include swearing? And have all since that one included it too?

I don’t know if they were even allowed to say damn at the time of TOS, but TNG said damn every now and then.

Turns out the first US of damn on TV in the US was in 1965 on My Favorite Martian
