The bad actors wouldn’t bother with the fediverse in the first place during election cycles if we didn’t matter.
This place really is full of itself, isn’t it? All the self importance of Reddit with none of the influence sometimes.
I was looking at this thinking the train should probably be smaller.
The 45k mau users can change the world a lot.
Like a toy train running into a shoe
Shortbus
Handcart.
It’s harder to control the flow of information on a decentralized platform.
Unlike when the Turkish opposition was banned on Bluesky without recourse.
That’s true conceptually, but the Fediverse is too sparse and casual to be an actual catalyst. The best you could say is that members might talk about ideas and issues relatively early compared to much of the wider web, but that only makes it a (fickle) weathervane.
You could probably fit all the Turkish people on this platform in one room.
There used to be a turkish lemmy instance. So yes, they know about this place.
There’s a New Zealand instance as well, there’s like ten regular users.
Actually it has 39 daily users.
There must be a few lurkers, I doubt that many people post or comment.
We just need our own Boston Bomber case to solve!
We did have a anatalist go off the rails…
