Just thought I would share my N64 collection with the retro gaming community on Lemmy. Let me know if you have any questions.

    2 questions:

    • Why did those games at the bottom not deserve a clear plastic case?
    • What are your favourite games that are not the usual suspects?

Those are just duplicates, they will probably get sold eventually. A really fun game that I like is Space Station Silicon Valley. Fun fact, there is a bug in the game that makes it where you can’t pick up a specific item so you can’t 100% the game. I believe that there were carts released with a fix but it’s not really talked about so I’m not sure. Anyway, there is a patch for the ROM that fixes the bug so I suggest playing that if you can if plan to 100% the game.

Well, those empty parts aren’t going to fill themselves!

Real talk tho, very impressive. Hope you have a cool set up to play them with.

1/10 because Perfect Dark and Goldeneye don’t have pride of place on the top shelf next to Majoras Mask. Epic fail move right there.

But also, why do you have so many identical copies of the same games? What’s the point, or are they different region copies?

I had the same question. If I had to guess, I’d say they buy bundles of games often, where the bundle includes a game they already have but 4 games they also want. The price is right and the condition is good so why not? If a cart ever fails you have a backup right there. If the value goes up (likely) you can sell one of the copies down the line.

      Edit: nvm, op replied here

Yeah it’s flea market strategy. If you try to buy one game, non-knowledgeable flea market seller thinks that game must be valuable, jacks the price up, puts it on display. But if you act like it’s just a box of old games, haggle them down on it like you just want some old games for your old system.

Yeah I couldn’t reply to the post. They are variants though. My extra cartridges are on the very bottom right shelf.

To rabbithole, I can’t reply to you for some reason I get an error but they are variants, either gray variants of a colored cartridge or players choice.

Still missing Mischief Makers or is it somewhere that I’m not seeing? That’s one of the best remaining games on the 64 that I’m not seeing here.

As a 40-year-old I, logically, understand that the N64 is pretty old now. But at the same time I am deeply offended this is how I learned about this Retro Gaming group

Wow, what a collection. Out of curiosity, do you back up the games you own in case the battery dies or something happens to the cartridges?

Yeah. At that point you can just rely on save states.

Hard to tell towards the bottom but if you’ve got Worms Armageddon, it goes for quite a bit these days (I’ll never sell my copy though! Precious memories)
