ONLY until the rest of the users give them the “fuck off you nazi trash” response that they actually deserve.

Hahah, lemme know when they actually do fuck off. Sure, they deserve that response but it’s not gonna get rid of them any more than it has anywhere else on the capitalist web.

Sort of. On the fediverse I saw that they are mostly just defederated, because the insults and stuff they can hurl far surpasses anything that someone on twitter/facebook/etc can say.

They’ve also given everyone with an instagram account a Threads account, so they’re going to be over run with fitness gurus and diet tea selling vegans any minute now.

They are not “flocking to Threads”, they were already in Instagram and Facebook. Meta is going to have to pay one day or another for cowering in front of religious countries by allowing homophobia and anti-atheist and anti-freethinker hate-speech in those countries. I had to deal a lot with those and reporting them did nothing, because moderators are sourced locally from those countries, and the laws in those countries are in favor of that kind of hate-speech.

That’s been my experience as well. Reporting them does nothing, but if you call them out on their BS, Facebook suspends you.

As long as hate drives engagement, this will never change.

Well, to be fair, I have managed to get some lunatics removed from some local UK communities on Facebook. Granted, these are UK communities, but still, there were a lot of lunatics at some point during pandemic. All the crap suddenly started posting all kinds of non sense from blatant racism to conspiracy theories.

Are you honestly shocked? They’re trying to get in while Threads is overwhelmed by new signups. Hopefully Meta will do the right thing and kick them off but they probably won’t.

The big corps have always had a right wing bias. The corps bend over backwards to cator to these asshats while shitting all over the left.

There’s a reason this stuff thrives on places like Facebook and will continue to do so. They also want a platform that has the widest reach.

It’s why they want to be in the big sites instead of making their own because they want the rest of us to see their nonsense. There may not end up being a big hate presence on fedi stuff because any right wing instances will be broadly blacklisted either by the instances or by the users.

You speak as if they care about politics; they don’t have a bias that exists outside the realm of publicity.

Their “politics” is based on maximizing revenue.

That’s the world we live in, and framing them as political enemies who “side with the right” isn’t constructive - it completely misses the entirety of the dynamic that we live in, and if you miss that, good luck getting anywhere.

Businesses love right wingers because they are more active, and engaged, than left wingers. They tend not to run adblock, and click and buy shit from ads. So the average right winger brings in more money than the average left winger.

They also tend to get babied because the left will see someone break the rules and get punished and be all “Yeah, he deserved that”, but if a right winger gets held accountable, The entire flock goes full rabid and loses their shit with threats of violence, threats of bombings, protests, employee harassment, etc etc.

” He went on to instruct his followers to “try and build a big account. I mean, if you get in early, maybe some of you guys can blow up and red pill some people on there.”

Red pill? Did pro-authoritarian, white supremacist, and self-proclaimed incel, Nick Fuentes unironically use “red pill”? lmao What a clown.

I don’t understand why these incels insist on using a Matrix analogy, red-pill just means “truth” and blue-pill means “ignorance”, why do they constantly subvert a basic concept? It’s literally the same with “woke”, it literally just means what it says, “being attuned to what’s going on”. Nothing more, but these idiots literally ruin it, if anything they’re blue-pilled, going by the Matrix

This is literally 1984’s double thinking: the people accusing other people of being woke and defining themselves as red-pilled (woken up to a reality) are in turn the most ignorant. They are accusing their enemy of having reached a state of mind they themselves claim to have reached, while they actually did not. Totally paradoxical.

Red pill/blue pill was written as an analogy to the experience of trans people, as well. The ignorance with how they’ve co-opted the concept runs quite deep.

They ALWAYS do. Communication exists. Do your part and shut them down and send them information for therapy. It’s hilarious. They are losers and will always be unless they get help. There is no intolerance except for the intolerant racists!

Threads is doing a decent job moderating them. They put warnings if you subscribe to someone known to spread misinformation and they remove posts that break TOS.

Obviously the attention seekers are going to run to every platform. I don’t think it’s fair journalism to say that certain groups are moving to Threads when it’s many groups.

“Men are creating thousands of accounts on Threads. Why are the majority of accounts female? Our data analysis explains here!” Is kind of the same clickbait.

I won’t argue that racists don’t make up a loud percentage of text-based social media, though.

Yup, Nazis don’t want a circle jerk chamber. They specifically want to get into general public spaces so they can recruit. This is why you often find Nazi shit in the weirdest places (such as the bronies).

It’s why moderation is needed on all social media platforms. It’s also why “we don’t tolerate Nazis” needs to be a general rule. They are a cancer.

This reminds me that I’m never gonna understand furfash. Like, here we are in a furpile or watching cartoons or just like, wiggling or some crap and some bellend’s gotta be all, “Hitler is cool actually” and that’s part of their whole 'sona while the whole rest of us are doing a thing that kinda naturally implies a lack of restrictions (on personal physical form, especially!) and having a nice time. What part of any of this fits well with “you have to exist my way” O.o rantrantrant!

Exactly. It’ll happen with any platform that gains traction. I’m even seeing some fringe groups appearing in some niche Lemmy instances, too. People are going to go to wherever other people are.

Facebook and its properties have always been a safe haven for them.

Which is why no one should be federated with threads.
