Republican Georgia state Sen. Colton Moore on Tuesday told “War Room” host Steve Bannon that he plans to push the legislature to defund Fulton District Attorney Fani Willis’ prosecution of former President Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants, arguing that Trump’s prosecution threatens to ignite a “civil war.” Moore complained that indicted fellow state Sen. Shawn Still is going to have to spend “a million dollars” to defend himself in the case. “It’s just like Nazi Germany,” Moore claimed. “I mean, they want to call us the Nazis and their actions are Nazism.”

We need to be taking action right now. Because if we don’t, our constituencies are gonna be fighting it in the streets.

Why would a liberal start a fight over this? Huh Colton?

Of course the name of his show is “war room,” jfc. All conservatives do is fantasize about violence.

It goes back to their religion too. Their idol killed millions of people they disagreed with them. To a conservative “Christian” this is peak

My favorite part of the Ken Burns civil war doc was hearing historians talk about how the north won with a tiny paltry effort.

I don’t think that’s true. It was the bloodiest war in US history. The North probably wasn’t going to lose, they had too much going for them, but the insurrectionists weren’t a rambunctious group of terrorists. They had a trained and equipped army and the officer corp on both sides were equally well trained. If the British had intervened, as the South was petitioning them to do, we would have had an enormous problem on our hands. Lincoln declaring emancipation was, in part, meant to appeal to anti slavery activists in Parliament, whom at this point had significant political clout in the empire.

The idea that the North sat around and sipped coffee while their industrial and financial bases smashed the south is too simple.

I honestly disagree with that statement. The sane people left need to know what the insane are planning and capable of. I’d rather be aware that the Nazis are coming for me than just be overrun and silenced.

There is a proverbial saying in German (I am from Austria - then-export-country of Hitler) which is “Wehret den Anfängen”, which translates to “Ward off the beginnings”. And I fully believe that is what a decent society should do when it comes to Nazis. And the press is needed for that.

Moore’s remarks came as Georgia GOP Senate leaders seek to find a way to punish Willis for bringing charges against Trump. "I told one senator… we’ve got to put our heads together and figure this out. We need to be taking action right now.

Pretty sure they just admitted obstruction of justice and some conspiracy charges…

The US military is and none of these fucks you stand a chance against it.

If they want to try civil war, the military would not be on their side. Despite the large Republican presence in the military, the vast vast majority would still side with there not being civil war.

That’s a pretty iffy statement if you’ve ever talked to a veteran or active duty member. Sure, most might be loyal to the constitution, but the military votes republican for the most part, and that included in 2016 and 2020.

          • Ehh, a few. Not the best parts. See the joint chiefs of staff letter about January 6. They aren’t going to fuck around with domestic terrorists. If the police won’t bring these nutjobs to heal, they will.
