Unless it’s hardcore full-frontal from start to finish it won’t accurately capture the spirit of the game. They’ve only got an hour per episode to pack with weird horniness.

      I’m fine with horny if it skips the usual P R E S T I G E sexual violence emphasis.

ideally it won’t even be horny at all - all the characters are entirely naked because they’ve taken off their camp clothes & then switched to camp outfits in the overworld as a joke, nobody as much as mentions this in the show

That’s just it: it’s read about, spoken about. That sort of than can happen and I can accept that as a story element that adds tragedy and pain to a character. That’s fine, even good. What I saw of Astarion’s story as visually presented on screen didn’t seem particularly gratuitous (except when Raphael showed up at one point) or at the character’s expense.

Somebody doesn’t understand the allure of Baldurs Gate 🤔

Which ensures it’ll be fast tracked and on the service by March.

Could we not though, not counting EA I’m like 60 hours in and haven’t cleared act 2 - and already have plans for a second run. I don’t have TIME for a BG show.

Run-time will be split 50/50 between a live-action bisexual harem anime and random comedy violence on goblins.

    If you’re against this you’re a Baldur’s Gatekeeper.

    (I don’t know anything about Baldur’s Gate.)

Hey - if Larian gets some of that Netflix munny it’ll probably make another awesome game in 4-6 years. I’m down for that. And there’s still that very slim possibility it’s actually good. I’m going to choose to be cautiously optimistic.

I’ll play devils pessimist and say that if Larian gets more money then the next game will probably be hot garbage because they’ll have even more sponsors/investors to have to answer to.

Otoh Larian isn’t public, yet. As long as the company doesn’t end up on soulless cunts in suits’ hands, I’d bet on Larian to make a good game.

Top guy looks like a big nerd too, that’s a good sign.

Agree. Part of why they’ve made such great stuff is that they’re independent and self-publishing. There’s nobody to rush them to market, and nobody outside the organization meddling in development. If Netflix (or some other company) gets its claws into them, I’d expect to see a huge drop in quality in favor of more focus-grouped bazinga bullshit.

It’ll either be “so… that happened” quipshit or it’ll be edgy for edginess’ sake shit. Hard pass both ways.

Disclaimer: I enjoyed Honor Among Thieves because it managed to thread the needle and be clever/funny without being unbearably quippy by letting the funny parts happen rather than being verbally forced into being.

I-was-saying that was a funny part that just happened without being verbally forced into being.

Imagine a Joss Whedonization of that moment.

Guard: “So… that bard just melted!” so-true
