This is Zoomer Revisionism and a properly configured Oblivion or New Vegas is very well behaved tbh. But even by default they shouldn’t bog down and crash the way Fallout 3 does on PS3, that’s harsh save bloat meeting tiny RAM size.
Huh. Feel like I’ve heard you have to mod NV to make it stable enough to play. Probably exaggerated for the meme though unless you consider those mods part of properly configuring it. Haven’t actually tried them out.
It’s a good idea to apply Yukichigai’s patch, NVTickFix, Ultimate Edition ESM Fix and some other stuff, but vanilla PC NV is more stable than most give it credit for. Just no reason to run it that way, lol
