Lately I was surprised to learn that a lot of people mention the kiss in ANH but forget they made out passionately in ESB. Well it’s mostly Leia sucking Luke’s face off to spite Han but Luke sure isn’t objecting.
He talks about it in one of the interviews from the remastered VHS collection. During the fight on the second death star, the script just said “Luke gets angry” and he couldn’t figure out how to flesh that out until he came up with threatening Leia.
Yup! Before they swing across the gap in ANH escaping the Death Star and after Han saves Luke at the beginning of Empire. Leia sees Luke and kisses him (passionately) in front of Han

That’s the one everyone talks about. The ANH kiss is on the cheek, which is totally normal in many cultures.
Yeah, the ANH kiss could have gone with a line like, “you’re the best brother!” and wouldn’t have been out of the ordinary.
splinter of the minds eye novel has the good stuff as I don’t think the author was clued in on the family thing at the time.
Them being related is definitely something that the script writers/Lucas didn’t think of until midway through filming ROTJ.
