I still think it makes no sense to write political non-sports slogans on a football pitch. (Not that I support racism)

Edit: Ok I’m clearly missing some US-specific sports context here.

Exactly, that’s why I don’t see the point of such a sign being displayed at a football pitch where people go to watch football (and not to think about racism) – because it should be obvious that racism is bad wherever.

That still doesn’t drive to change the fact that you tried to use the Republican talking points of claiming racism as a political issue.

you tried to use the Republican talking points

There was no hidden motive behind my comment. But ‘political’ was not the right choice of word.

You witness a huge political display at the start of every game. The NFL was paid by the department of defense for the athletes to be present on the field for the anthem.

Quite frankly it’s flat out scary that you think that saying ‘racism is bad’ is politics.

Fundamental human rights, and a basic respect for human beings regardless of what race they were born as, is not politics. People who want to make it politics should have the ever living fuck smacked out of them at minimum.

‘political’ was probably a bad choice of word on my part because I agree that whether racism is bad needn’t be up for debate. The point I was trying to make was more that this proclamation has nothing to do with football. They could plaster a hundred other agreeable slogans like ‘end fossil fuels’, ‘tax the rich’ etc. across the pitch but I don’t think it’s something the football goer would appreciate.

No, because end fossil fuels and tax the rich are not universal, inarguable, basic human rights.

And if the football goer doesn’t appreciate the words ‘end racism’ or has a problem with it, they should have the ever living fuck smacked out of them.

          You’re really over complicating this.

Put the shovel down, please. Racial justice and sports have an extremely long history. You are either uneducated on the subject or trolling extremely hard. Racism in sports is an ongoing issue both domestically and worldwide, pretending they aren’t related is insane.

When someone yells racial slurs at games do you just tell them to keep politics out of the stadium?
