Just like what happened with Internet Explorer. So it is imperative to Google to keep Firefox afloat whatever the cost. And Firefox has to do nothing in return other than exist. Mozilla does not send any data to Google, which you can not say from any of the Chromium-based browsers like Edge.

Firefox need the money from Google, because to maintan its Infrastructure, servers, bread and water for its devs. etc
