I had to remove a large limb from my pecan tree. Which meant I had some fodder for new kitchen spoons.

I have a pecan sapling on my property and have some questions please.

How old is the wood used for these?

How durable is pecan wood for tools?

Pecan is hard AF. Would make durable tool handles if that’s what youre asking. Will dull the hell out of your blades/chisels when you work it though.

Thanks! I’m a chef so I appreciate strong and durable kitchen tools. As well as some high quality smoked BBQ.

Not only that but for hand carving you want green wood. Like cut the limb, let it sit for two days, then hand carve it.
