Signal is better for privacy but is missing some features (not as powerful group chats, folders only on Android and only client side, no pinned messages, no polls - though if one answer is enough you can use reactions). Matrix is pretty good for that kind of thing.
Why recommend Telegram when, arguably, it’s no better than WhatsApp?
