I guess Lemmy as a federalized platform mitigates a lot of the problems (mainly all subreddits being at the mercy of one company) addressed in this article.

I have had that happen with several classical forums before, but they usually lasted more than a decade. Also, it is not exactly easy to find stuff written here, so it is way too fenced off.
