A Cornell University student facing deportation after his visa was revoked because of his campus activism said he decided to leave the United States.
Momodou Taal, a citizen of the United Kingdom and Gambia, had asked a federal court to halt his detention. But he posted on X late Monday that he didn’t believe a legal ruling in his favor would guarantee his safety or ability to speak out.
“I have lost faith I could walk the streets without being abducted,” Momodou Taal wrote from an unknown location. “Weighing up these options, I took the decision to leave on my own terms.”
It literally means freedom from consequences by the government. Not from society. Sure he could’ve been a social pariah and people would’ve been within their rights to ostracize him. But it is unconstitutional for our government to threaten him with legal action as a result of his politics.
A government you are a citizen of. Are you gonna tell me about how non citizens have 2nd amendment rights too?
Actually… I think they do. I bought a gun recently and it asked all the stuff about whether you are a citizen or not. That’s just one of those funny things about the bill of rights - it applies to anyone stateside and any citizen abroad.

Look dude. The whole reason the US has been successful a society is because it is built upon freedom guaranteed by the bill of rights. That applies to anyone who is here. Our constitutional rights are there to protect us from a tyrannical government - and hopefully prevent that tyranny from coming in the first place. If you don’t believe in those freedoms then get the fuck out and stop supporting those people who want to take them from everyone else.
