Lol we give em sips of wine for communion and most kids have seen their parents falling down drunk by that age. You gonna hide beer cans at the grocery store also?

An 8yo can look at one marijuana and go on to live a perfectly fruitful life, I promise

As a Marijuana user and a father of young kids, I am aware that drugs and alcohol affect brain development.

Just because it’s cool and funny doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.

Hurts nobody. Completely legal plant in half the country. Kid might as well have found a can of beer.

Our communities have more to fear from the people who use “what about the children!?1!” as their basis for what constitutes good vs bad, than we do from some plant based medicine being left around as literal easter eggs

Yeah well I don’t let my kids take any sort of medicine on their own.

You guys have been fighting society on this issue so long you are forgetting there is nuance.

Unless your 8 year old knows how to smoke weed, or decarb it, and cook it into fats, that weed isn’t going to do anything to them. Like literally.

You think most parents have gotten falling down drunk? Around their small children, no less? Is alcohol abuse really that rampant?

It is, and that’s an important conversation to have as a society. In this conversation, I was pointing out the hypocrisy of decrying something fairly innocuous, and coloring it as ridiculous when juxtaposed against something similar yet more damaging that we, not only tolerate, but actively celebrate.

It depends on where you are but that’s not appropriate where I’m from

i grew up in a society where children thought a single sip of beer made you an alcoholic. what’s appropriate, what’s safe, and what’s legal are very different things.

You give your kids alcohol in church?

I’m not talking about drinking in general. (although you shouldn’t give alcohol to young children) I’m talking about communion

I’d hate to live there. I couldn’t imagine having to Old Yeller my kids because they saw some wild marijuana growing in the woods or something…

Well if they ate it, literally nothing would happen. And I doubt they’d know to smoke it and/or how.

Yep, it would need to be decarbed (a process that a child can’t do unless they explicitly look it up) and then ate with a fat to bind it for the liver.

Otherwise they’re chewing up a plant that tastes kinda bad.
