One thing that can be said for Carney is that over the course of his long career as a banker he must have had considerable experience dealing with people like Trump. By which of course I mean people who are rich and powerful, very great and successful.
That’s true, but they do have to deal with politicians making demands of them all the time. So, he’s probably used to trying to do the right thing for the economy, while not freaking out the markets, and while handling politicians who want quick economic fixes to boost their election chances.
