Any muso’s here got a good tip for earplugs for an aging gen-x-er who loves seeing live music but is feeling more and more like Huey Lewis in BTTF everyday? Been using chemist basics and loops and they’re ok as a backup, but seem to ruin the sound…
People seem to rate Etymotic ones. Had a cheapo off the shelf (not custom) pair way back that did the trick.
Funnily enough when I was younger, ran into an audiologist at a few raves and her hard rule was if it’s very loud, leave the d-floor every 20-30 mins for a breather. Not always easy to do that with live shows though.
I have Loop but you need to buy the model specific for concerts, not sleeping. I had the sleeping ones initially and used at concerts, which I didn’t love, but once I switched it was a much better listening experience.

Great. I’ll look into those, thanks.

Have you considered going deaf instead? I hear it works quite well.
Excuse the pun.
+1 etymotic research, I knew a drummer who wore them.
