I hate Zenos so much. Not like good antagonist hate but obnoxious bad character hate. Fuck him for ruining the ending of Endwalker. I wanted to literally just walk away after Endsinger and leave his stupid ass standing around at the end of the universe. He didn’t do shit Middy could have flown me but no the incel prince had to show up and neg the antispiral.
It annoyed me how many people were bazinga for the “that, I cannot deny” dialogue choice before the final battle with Zenos.
I wish there was some Alisaie-inspired “fuck you, you don’t get a final battle, you deserve to be lonely and unfulfilled for all you have already done” option but the best I could do was “believe what you want, but you are not leaving here.”
It was pretty funny socking him as a Lalafell, hehe.
I appreciate that Zenos is portrayed more transparently as a “not this asshole again” kind of character, unlike the beloved Emet-Selch who even unto his temporary rebirth in Ultima Thule said “My ideals are inviolate and invincible (read: He’s still proud of being a Magic nazi and viewing the sundered as lesser beings even after the context of reclaiming his memories)”
(Midgardsomr was incapacitated from the events in Omega back in Stormblood, I think.)

Fandaniel’s jokerfication is much more interesting. Up there with Garlean Gendo Ikari.

I actually hoped for a longer more satisfying villain arc for Fandaniel.
I even hoped for a surprise eleventh hour “Akuma/Gouki owns Bison/Vega” final boss switcheroo, but noooooooooo.
