Clean the filter in your dishwasher once every month or two, depending on how often you use it.

lol yeah, dishwashers require a high upfront cost. But I think they are cheaper in the long run because they use less water (and maybe less electricity?) than washing dishes by hand. I did a quick search online and it seems to be the case. However, I wonder if those first links are wrong.

Totally on board with all this. I grew up with dishwashers but since I moved to Los Angeles in 2013 I haven’t had an apartment with a dishwasher.

My current apartment (that costs more than a three bedroom home mortgage in my home state) is so old and the kitchen is so small that there’s no space for a dishwasher.

It really grinds my gears because water is way less abundant here yet you have probably thousands of people washing dishes by hand. I can tell you right now I waste ridiculously too much water simply by handwashing dishes.

You can get counter top dish washers.

I don’t know how well they work, but they’re reasonably affordable.

I’ve considered it but my wife and everyone else I know out here rolls their eyes when I complain about not having dishwashers. We have an air fryer, toaster oven and Keurig coffee maker that already use up all our counter space. Seriously, I have to slice out the cutting board (built into the counter) to do basically anything involving a countertop.
