I’m not really shocked by any human rights abuse coming out of the Middle East tbh. Most of those countries are still somehow theocracies, and that will never be good for easily abused and exploited groups.
Saudi Arabia is hell in Earth for migrant workers. My dad used to work there as a teen labour. Later on, he moved to Kuwait, which was much better for him, but after the Iraq war, they have probably changed for the worst.

There are almost as many westerners in the UAE as there are Emiratis. They are all participants in the exploitation.
