I made a rare exception to watch an Interruptathon for Bassem Youssef but I can’t go another round. Hope Hasan got to actually say more than 7 consecutive words defending Palestine at some point during the interview though.
Hasan killed it, as much as he could have in. Letting Piers interrupt him for the first segment, asking if he could finish only twice before letting Piers shout over him, lulling him into a false sense of security and control.
Then in the next round Hasan absolutely steamrolls over his pleading opponent begging to get a word in, drops the APARTHEID STATE haymaker and reversing the “do you condemn” chokehold.
All while making Piers look like the absolute self-centered propagandist he began the show protesting he was. Fucking masterful.
Piers is so incredibly unlikeable, I feel like it has to be the point. He comes off as the pinnacle of “pompous”, and I can’t help but feel like it’s intentional. It’s like looking at a cartoon villain; surely I, as a viewer, am supposed to hate him, right?

Bassem was more entertaining imo. Opening up with that joke about trying to murder his wife was a strong choice.
