My spouse bought me Origins when it came out because I played a lot of Black Flag, causing her to mistakenly think that I really liked Assassin’s Creed. She realized after my reaction to it was “thanks for the new game, that’s a nice gift” rather than “holy shit! I’ve been waiting this game!” that I was, in fact, playing Black Flag because it was a pirate game, that just happened to be an Assassin’s Creed game, and hadn’t actually played much of the earlier ones.
