    I feel kinda bad. Cornell got played like a godamn fiddle. Doesn’t deserve this.

      He isn’t getting played, he is playing himself.

      Lenin took money from Germany, didn’t mean that he defended the humanity of the Kaiser as a staunch anti-Tsarist or whatever.

          The point is that you can take the bag and not lick the arse of whomever gave it to you, but Cornell West managed to not only fumble the bag, as a ‘jazz man’, but still decided to defend them.

            In politics, you can’t really. Especially left wing politics.

            Harlan didn’t even bother to go through a 501c3 and try to hide it. Could have fine that, but he clearly wanted to do some weird “I own you” stuff. From Cornell’s perspective, an outsider politician who needs cash, it probably does seem unfair that he has to give a major contribution back. But he does. Unless he wants to be associated with Clarence Thomas.
