“I got into an industry that values appearance over literally everything, and I’m upset because they changed my appearance to meet their standards.” I pawned my small violin for diet pills a few weeks ago, but as soon as I get it back I’ll play her a song.

Edit: I guess I need to spell it out for you fucking mouth breathers. I’m not supporting the fashion industry. I’m not saying that they should do this. I fucking hate it. I also am not supporting this woman who is propping up an industry that would sooner tell someone to change their physical appearance before they adjust the measurements of the garment they are peddling on a stage for clout. This woman is culpable for all of the young girls going forward who join this industry and are subject to the same treatment. She’s the young black man who joined the police force hoping to change the institution from within. Sorry, it’s too late. Burn it down. Go to your local Louis Vuitton store and set fire to the displays. If you see someone with a Dolce & Gabbana bag walking down the street you should dump pig blood on them, not because it was made with animals, but because it was made by an industry that treats its people like cattle. Fuck them all.

I consider this comment to be loud and boisterous, but completely tone deaf.

White supremacy is not the side you want to be on.

Fuck off with calling me a white supremacist. I’m not saying she should be white, or she’s worth less than a white person. Don’t put those fucking words into my mouth. I’m saying this is very much a “leopards ate my face” moment. She joined into the most superficial, artificial clique on the fucking planet, and she’s bitching because someone edited her to be more appealing to them and who they sell to. I don’t give a fuck what her race, gender, nationality, or skin color is. She’s a fucking idiot, and that is evidenced by the fact that she blames an industry built on photo editing for editing her appearance in a photo.

That superficial, artificial clique would be an entire industry as far as I can see you saying

That’s not something that should be argued as “just a clique, why did you show up?”. That’d be like saying the Activision/Blizzard scandal in the gaming industry was people who just should’ve accepted the shitty situation they were in. People should be able to say that an industry they want to be in is acting inappropriately.

And you still have no qualms about the industry treating white as the obviously superior modification they would make to her appearance.

You just defend that industry by calling HER the moron.

If you quack like a white supremacist, you are a white supremacists.

Happy you don’t like being called what you are though.

Leaves room for you to correct that.

PS: by correct that, I mean having harsh words for the producers, not the beautiful young lady who the producers whitified.

Go back and read the edit to the main comment you replied to. It may clarify my stance for you. And don’t swing around the “white supremacist” slur. You’ll dilute the meaning so that the actual white supremacists won’t get the full brunt of the term’s effect.

Concern trolling, as are all accusations of “diluting a term” are. If girls at risk of being edited stayed out of the fashion industry - which was your advice - then the fashion industry would be left with only white women. But you knew that, didn’t you?

Is that in the same way you are culpable for all the other knuckle-dragging mouth-breathers who will follow in your steps?

I see you’re suggesting that she shouldn’t be surprised that the fucked up culture in the fashion industry is fucked up since everyone knows it’s fucked up. But what everyone else is trying to tell you is that we should still talk about how fucked up this is, because it’s fucked up.

                1. Join a toxic industry that has been exploiting people for a century.
                1. Find something else to do.

I just don’t get why everyone is arguing that she should be allowed to be upset about this. This is fucking FAR from the first time the fashion industry has fucked someone over. This isn’t a situation that she was trapped in to. She has choices. She can just not be a model, or even just not be a model in the most toxic part of the industry, which is the runway. It’s like someone who walks into a kiln and then complains about how hot it is, and then expects other people to take their side. It’s a fucking kiln. All the warning signs are there. The fashion industry is a waste of human endeavor and should be razed to the ground. I’m not going to celebrate someone on the inside saying how bad things are. I fucking know how bad things are, EVERYONE DOES. It’s her fucking fault for getting into it in the first place. Hopefully she gets out before she becomes the role model for some other poor girl who gets involved in that shit. The world doesn’t need more Cindy Crawfords and Tyra Banks. I dare say the world will be a better place if we never have another one, again.

This is textbook victim blaming. What isn’t textbook is how mad you are about this. You are so mad about this, and it’s unsettling.

I love how that is the knee-jerk reaction whenever someone says that another should be held accountable for their decision. Awe. The poor girl made a terrible life choice and has to deal with the consequences. I’m not victim blaming, I’m saying that maybe she shouldn’t have gotten into the modelling industry with the expectation that she’d be treated like a human. I guess everyone believes that with hard work and/or a pretty face, doors should just open. Sometimes the toxic industry that you’ve been warned about is just as fucking bad as everyone says. Fucking shocker. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I think the point they’re trying to make is there are much worse things happening at a broader scale in the fashion industry than this one model being impacted by this event.

If my baby cousin gets hit trying to cross a busy street where many deaths have already occurred, I will still cry, even if the collision was entirely predictable. He didn’t deserve it. Knowing danger and accepting the risk does not mean you deserve the dire consequences when they occur.

There. Are you back now? Do you understand that this is par for the fucking course? Do you understand that the fashion industry exploits young men and women all the time, doing far more fucked up things than editting their face for a photo? Jesus fucking Christ. Ya’ll motherfuckers need to learn about the enemy. It’s like being pissed off at Amazon for union busting. No fucking shit.

No. Rant and rave against it. Rally behind a flag of exploited youths. Just don’t be surprised when the industry does this shit. It’s what they’ve always done, and it’s what they will always do. They will not change. Ever. So, when someone willingly joins them, and then complains about things being just as bad as everyone already knows, we can all look at them with pity, because they were too stupid to make the right choice earlier. “This wheat thresher destroyed my legs!” Says the person who jumped into the wheat thresher, while still inside the wheat thresher.
